Your room can become smaller or larger, depending on the color of its walls and ceiling, in addition to its lighting. Interiors designers open a area without actually adding a few meters to it by choosing the right shades of paint and strategically positioning the lights. But for busybodies such as you, you can still do that without having to spend a lot of time and money by following tips.

If you have little time left to have your walls repainted or your floors re-carpeted, you can make a big difference already by simply moving your furniture around. Badly positioned stuff frequently make the room more confined than it actually is. Your couches and side table may seem better in a different angle or maybe just put them a little farther from each other and keep a few inches in between them instead of having them so closely together.

For the floor, it would take time to fit new tiles or full carpet. As an alternative, you can simply put tasteful rugs in the right places to add texture to the floor and accent to the furniture. You can also wrap your sofa chair with a new sheet color or add throw pillows for a completely new look without the need to buy new ones.

Get rid of the unlit corners of your room. They give the impression of a smaller space since they are rarely used. You don’t need to rewire the whole room, however. You can do away by merely placing removable lamps in the corners of the room to brighten it up and maximize the area.
